Fred Smoot is starting in place of Carlos Rogers for the Redskins Sunday.
Rogers was benched last week after getting torched on a double move by Brandon Marshall. He's apparently still in the doghouse. Rogers is much more talented than the declining Smoot, so upgrade the Cowboys' passing game slightly.

Redskins LCB Carlos Rogers is expected to get his starting job back for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Rogers was benched last week after getting burned by Brandon Marshall on a double move for a 40-yard TD. Despite the embarrassment, Rogers is a much better option than Fred Smoot or Justin Tryon. Smoot is in obvious decline, and the diminutive Tryon's upside is as a slot corner. He's too small to play outside.

Redskins CB Carlos Rogers confirmed that he was benched after falling for a double move by Brandon Marshall in the first quarter of Sunday's win.
Rogers was replaced by Fred Smoot and Justin Tryon stepped in as the third corner. Rogers didn't sniff the field after that and said after the game he doesn't know if he'll get his job back. It's bad timing for Rogers to get embarrassed as he'll be a restricted free agent after the season.

Redskins CB Carlos Rogers appeared to be benched in the third quarter of Sunday's game against Denver.
Rogers was the culprit on Kyle Orton's first touchdown bomb to Brandon Marshall, but wasn't getting any safety help. Still, the Skins obviously weren't pleased with the contract-year corner's play. Fred Smoot, who's been playing some safety, and Justin Tryon are seeing increased snaps.

Redskins RCB Carlos Rogers (calf) has resumed practicing with the team.
Rogers, entering a contract season, will start in Week 1 against the Giants. Look for him to match up often with Domenik Hixon and Mario Manningham.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn said Carlos Rogers' calf injury "is affecting" the cornerback's ability to be prepared for the season.
Rogers has been bothered by the nagging injury for most of camp. Zorn is hoping Rogers can get a full week of practice in next week. The Skins have likely been playing it cautious with Rogers because he's so valuable.
