Vincent Jackson says he is not upset that the Chargers are taking a wait-and-see approach about signing him long term.
"Everything comes into consideration when (a team makes) a decision like that," he said. "Is it fair? Yes. It's part of the business." V-Jax also says he doesn't have a drinking problem despite two DUI arrests as a pro, one of which is pending in court. He is likely to face a short suspension in 2010.

Vincent Jackson was charged Tuesday with two misdemeanors stemming from his traffic stop just before the Divisional Round loss to the Jets.
Jackson is facing fines and penalties resulting from driving with a suspended license and expired registration. The Pro Bowler still has a 2009 DUI case pending and has a 2006 conviction on a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge on his record. Jackson is very likely to be suspended for at least one game next season, and a 2-4 game ban isn't out of the question.

Vincent Jackson has been selected to the Pro Bowl as Reggie Wayne's replacement.
V-Jax was arguably one of the bigger snubs when the original rosters were announced. As the Chargers' clear No. 1 receiver, he finished ninth in the league in receiving yards, fourth in yards per catch and tied for tenth in touchdowns. He'll be retained by the Chargers this offseason with a first- and third-round tender.

Vincent Jackson sued the California Department of Motor Vehicles last year in an effort to avoid having his driver's license suspended.
His case was denied in September due to his 2006 DUI conviction and January 2009 DUI arrest, and his license was suspended again. The September ruling was behind last week's citation for driving with a suspended license. V-Jax has yet to face discipline from the NFL, but his driving record is sure to gain close scrutiny.

The Chargers are expected to place a first- and third-round tender on Vincent Jackson this offseason.
Now among the most dominant receivers in the league, V-Jax may be one of the few restricted free agents in recent memory actually worth pursuing at that price. Considering his drinking and driving issues, beat writer Kevin Acee considers 2010 a "trial year" for Jackson to earn a long-term deal.

According to 10 News San Diego, Vincent Jackson was cited for driving on a suspended license hours before Sunday's playoff loss to the Jets.
Jackson was reportedly pulled over for playing loud music and driving with expired tags. After the stop, police learned that his license was suspended, which is a misdemeanor. Jackson was only ticketed (not arrested), but the NFL won't look keenly on his continued off-field troubles. V-Jax already has been accused of two DUIs as a pro. He has yet to face discipline.
