Jeff Quinney shot a 1-under-par 34-35=69 in the opening round of the AT&T National.
OK. After the knee injury bumped him after 32 holes of the Travelers, and knowing that he's fighting a nagging back, Quinney's fantasy owners will take this. Nothing special today. He hit 12 GIR and took 29 putts, but is in tremendous shape to make the weekend.

Jeff Quinney withdrew during his second round of the Travelers Championship, citing a knee injury.
Quinney shot an opening-round 70 and was 3-over through 14 holes today when he pulled out. He sat out a few weeks earlier this year with a back injury and hasn't played well since returning in April. He had planned on making four straight starts, and he's in the field at next week's AT&T National, but with this new ailment, all bets are off on his ability to fulfill that goal.

Jeff Quinney withdrew on Monday from the St. Jude Classic
Quinney made his fifth cut in 13 starts last week when he tied for 48th place at the Memorial. He currently is in 162nd place on the Tour's Money List and will have to play better in the second half of the season, if he hopes to retain his card for the 2010 season.

Jeff Quinney carded a 2-over-par 73 in the opening round of the Verizon Heritage.
This is about what you expected, no? He hit half his fairways and 11 GIR, but still required 30 putts to post his number today. This week was more about getting the competitive juices flowing again than it was about going out to win a golf tournament. A paycheck would be gravy.

Jeff Quinney is listed in the published field of next week's Verizon Heritage.
Bumped from competition with an injured back, this would be his first start since finishing T-25 at the Northern Trust. He finished T-49 at last year's Heritage, but expect some rust to show next week.

In an article published in the Portland Tribune on March 9, Jeff Quinney said that he injured a disk in his back during the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
"Nothing serious – I played through it and played OK," Quinney said at the time. "I’m taking a few weeks off to give it some rest." He had hoped to compete in the Transitions, but hasn't teed it up since the Northern Trust Open (Feb. 22). We regret the delay in relaying this information.
