The player rep for Marc Bulger denies that his client is considering retirement, as reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Thursday.
Bulger is marrying a St. Louisan and wants to stay in the area, but the feeling isn't likely to be mutual. The Rams are ready to turn the page and will be looking for a new starter via the draft, trade, or free agency.

Marc Bulger is considering retiring, sources tell the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
This explains his oft-disinterested play over the last three seasons. Bulger's Rams career was already over due to performance that didn't measure up to an $8.5M salary in 2010, but he's only 32 and would've drawn plenty of interest on a paper-thin free agent market, if not brought back the Rams a seventh-round pick via trade. At the very least, Bulger would be a strong backup elsewhere. The Rams can forget about getting anything for him now.

Rams placed Marc Bulger (fractured shinbone) on injured reserve, ending his season.
We've already known that Bulger's season has been over for a couple weeks thanks to this injury. At age 32 and scheduled to make $8.5 million next season, Bulger's future with the team is in serious doubt. He may be asked to take a pay cut and if refuses, he could very likely be released. The Rams have likely already begun their search for a long-term replacement.

Bulger is still trying to work his way off crutches, so Keith Null and Kyle Boller will wrap up the year, as expected. Bulger's future with the team is in serious doubt thanks to his scheduled salary of $8.5 million in 2010. The Rams top priority this offseason should be a quarterback to build around.

Rams declared QB Marc Bulger, T Jason Smith, T Ryan McKee, DE Leonard Little, T/G Eric Young, CB Jonathan Wade, RB Chris Ogbonnaya, and third QB Mike Reilly inactive for Week 15 against Houston.
Little's loss is the most notable; he had swelling in his knee during the week. Chris Long will replace him at strong-side defensive end. Kyle Boller (illness) is active, but will serve as rookie Keith Null's backup.

Bulger is still feeling pain in his leg and the doctors still have him on crutches. With just three games left in the season for a 1-12 team, rushing Bulger back for a Week 17 start makes no sense. Look for Keith Null and Kyle Boller to finish out the year under center. The Rams have likely already begun their search for Bulger's long-term replacement.
