ESPN's Ed Werder reports that Brandon Marshall was specifically benched in Week 17 for being late to a therapy session for his strained hamstring.
Marshall pulled the hammy on Wednesday and declared himself unfit to play against the Chiefs. Coach Josh McDaniels, however, indicated that other Broncos were playing through more serious injuries and deactivated Marshall in retaliation. Marshall, along with TE Tony Scheffler, were not even permitted on the sidelines Sunday. Scheffler was allegedly overheard telling teammates that he "couldn't wait for Denver's season to end."
