 Curtis Granderson-OF- YankeesDec. 9 - 5:39 pm et
Yankees acquired OF Curtis Granderson; Tigers acquired RHP Max Scherzer, LHPs Daniel Schlereth and Phil Coke and OF Austin Jackson; Diamondbacks acquired RHPs Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson.
Bombers fans can't help but be pleased here, given the price tag. Granderson, 28, is owed a very-reasonable $5.5 million in 2010, $8.25 million in 2011, $10 million in 2012 and $13 million or a $2 million buyout in 2013. He'll immediately make the Yankees younger, offering some flexibility should Johnny Damon decide to leave via free agency. Granderson's problems against left-handed pitching have been well-documented, of course, and his defense has slipped a bit, according to UZR, but he crushed righties to a .897 OPS in 2009. With his contributions both on and off the field, he'll be a very popular player in the Bronx for years to come.

 Curtis Granderson-OF - Yankees Dec. 8 - 2:19 pm et

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Yankees have acquired OF Curtis Granderson as part of a three-team blockbuster deal with the Tigers and Diamondbacks.
The Yanks did really well here, snagging the 28-year-old Granderson for Ian Kennedy, Austin Jackson and Phil Coke. It's a small price to pay for a player of Granderson's talent and personality. As part of the three-way deal, Detroit will receive right-handers Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth from Arizona and Coke and Jackson from the Yanks. The D'Backs, meanwhile, receive a questionable return in Edwin Jackson from the Tigers and Kennedy from the Yanks. Granderson can be used in either left or center field in New York, giving general manager Brian Cashman some flexibility in regards to Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui, who are now likely on the outs. It's safe to say the Tigers now have the payroll flexibility they wanted while securing a tremendous haul of young players.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Yankees, Tigers and Diamondbacks have reached an agreement on a three-way trade.
Heyman writes that assuming medicals check out, the trade is a go. Curtis Granderson will head to New York while Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy go to Arizona and Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth, Austin Jackson and Phil Coke would land in Detroit. Stay tuned for confirmation.

A Yankees executive said Monday that there is "traction" to trade talks involving Tigers center fielder Curtis Granderson.
The only hold-up comes from the Yankees end, where they're weighing whether they want to trade off prospects like outfielder Austin Jackson and left-hander Mike Dunn. Granderson, 28, batted .249/.327/.453 with 30 home runs, 71 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 2009 and would fit in well with the Yanks, but general manager Brian Cashman is understandably having a hard time with the idea of parting with potential future stars.

According to FOXSports.com, the Yankees have interest in obtaining Curtis Granderson even if a rumored three-team blockbuster falls through.
The Tigers are looking to acquire cheap, young talent in exchange for the 28-year-old Granderson and Yankees outfield prospect Austin Jackson certainly fits the bill. Of course, the Yanks first have to decide if they're willing to ship off a potential future star. Granderson, for what it's worth, batted .249/.327/.453 with 30 home runs, 71 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 2009.
