Cowboys owner Jerry Jones indicated Thursday that he's eager to sign restricted free agent Miles Austin to a long-term deal.
Jerry's son, executive VP Stephen Jones, wasn't ready to talk about a long-term extension for Austin after his NFL record 421 yards in his first two starts. Austin's dominant performance in the second half of the season erased all doubts, however. His agent can start with Roy Williams' ludicrous five-year, $45 million deal and go from there.

Miles Austin caught four balls for 34 yards in the Cowboys' Divisional Round playoff loss to Minnesota. He also rushed for eight yards.
The Vikings made it a point to limit Dallas' downfield passing game while keeping a safety over the top of Austin throughout the contest. Roy Williams, as usual, didn't capitalize on single teams. Austin's 34 yards were his second fewest since Week 4. The 25-year-old impending restricted free agent will require a pricey first- and third-round tender this offseason.

Miles Austin caught seven passes for 82 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles in Saturday's opening-round playoff victory.
Austin showed his explosive after-the-catch skills on a 36-yard skinny post play, but his biggest impact came on a 40-yard pass interference call that led to a 1-yard Tashard Choice plunge. As hot as any receiver in the NFL, Austin gets a Vikings secondary with a gimpy Antoine Winfield next week.

Miles Austin caught seven passes for 90 yards in Sunday's blowout of the Eagles.
At this point, it's just another ho-hum day at the office for Austin. His thumb problem was not an issue as he plucked balls out of the air and did his thing after the catch. Austin will be a big part of the game plan heading into next week's playoff rematch with the Eagles.

The injury won't keep Austin from starting against the Eagles in Week 17, though he may play with a wrap on his hand.

Miles Austin practiced Wednesday with a wrap on his left hand.
Austin's sprained thumb is a little swollen, but it shouldn't limit him against the Eagles Sunday. The Cowboys would have held him out of practice if they were concerned.
