While the Rockies are in the market for free agents Fernando Tatis and Robb Quinlan, they could land a higher-profile free agent if the market crashes, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.
Miguel Tejada, Orlando Hudson, Orlando Cabrera, Feliple Lopez, Adam Kennedy and Melvin Mora are still out there in free agency and none are locks to find desirable contracts. Rosenthal uses Hudson an example, as he signed a one-year incentive laden contract with the Dodgers last winter. The Rockies wouldn't be able to afford the $7.9 million he ended up making, but the $3.38 base salary could be a reasonable fit.

Rockies agreed to terms with manager Jim Tracy on a three-year contract extension.
The news, which has been expected for weeks, comes on the heels of Tracy being named the National League Manager of the Year on Wednesday. Tracy, 53, led the Rockies to a 74-42 record and the National League Wild Card after taking over for Clint Hurdle in May. In addition to the extension, Tracy's entire staff will return for 2010.

Jim Tracy was named the NL Manager of the Year in a landslide, earning 29 of 32 first-place votes.
Not bad for a guy who wasn't even a manager at the beginning of the season. Tracy took the helm in May after Clint Hurdle was fired and guided Colorado to a 74-42 record and the National League Wild Card in one of the most rapid turnarounds in major league history. Along with the playoff berth, the Rockies established a new club record with a 92-70 record. Tracy becomes the first Rockies manager to win the award since Don Baylor in 1995. Tony LaRussa (2) and Joe Torre (1) were the only other two managers to receive first-place votes.

Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd was named the Major League executive of the year by the Sporting News on Monday.
"It's very gratifying coming from your peers," said O'Dowd. "But, as I've said before, this is about the whole organization. It's not about me. I'm just getting rewarded for the work of a lot of other people." 2009 was his tenth season as general manager, but it was arguably his finest. Not only did he replace Clint Hurdle with Jim Tracy in May, but the trade of Matt Holliday paid dividends, as Huston Street and Carlos Gonzalez were valuable contributors on their way to taking the National League Wild Card.

Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies are moving towards a new three-year contract with manager Jim Tracy.
Tracy guided the Rockies to a 74-42 record and the National League Wild Card after Clint Hurdle was dismissed in May. Don't expect a formal announcement until after the World Series, but longtime general manager Dan O'Dowd is also expected to ink a new three-year deal with the club.

Terms of the new contract were not announced. O'Dowd just completed his tenth season as the general manager, guiding the Rockies to a 74-42 record after replacing Clint Hurdle with Jim Tracy in May. Fresh off reaching the NLDS, Tracy is expected to receive a new contract within the next week.
