Anthony Gonzalez (knee surgery) feels "very, very confident" about being ready for next season.
"I'm feeling a lot better," said Gonzalez. "The rehab has been a lot longer than I would have liked, but it's getting stronger every day." We still don't know if Gonzalez underwent multiple surgeries or just the one scope to fix his strained or torn PCL. Pierre Garcon is a better fit at flanker and Austin Collie has developed into a slot machine, so Gonzalez's 2010 role is very much up in the air.

Colts placed WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Something happened between Monday and today, as Gonzalez was expected to be a game-time decision for this week's game against the Jets. It's likely that he had yet another setback, something that has been going on ever since he originally hurt the knee in Week 1. His absence allowed Pierre Garcon to step in and produce, putting Gonzalez's status as a dynasty prospect and primary receiver for the Colts in doubt.

Anthony Gonzalez (knee) could be placed on season-ending injured reserve, speculates the Indy Star.
Team president Bill Polian said that he expected Gonzalez to be a game-time decision this week, but then Gonzalez missed Wednesday's practice. That sends up some red flags. Still, Gonzalez has been out since Week 1 and the Colts haven't put him on injured reserve, so unless there was a setback they'll probably give him more time.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell hinted Wednesday that it would be tough for Anthony Gonzalez (knee) to play in Week 16. Gonzalez did not practice.
"Today, we'll see," Caldwell said, "but his road hasn't been an easy one." Gonzalez would likely only get in 12-18 snaps if he were to play against the Jets anyways. He won't make a noticeable impact before the postseason.

Anthony Gonzalez (knee) will practice fully on Wednesday, according to team president Bill Polian.
Polian said Gonzalez went through a light workout on Monday and came out of it fine. "I would say he’s an end-of-the-week, game-time decision," Polian said. Even if Gonzalez is active for Sunday's game against the Jets, he'll be eased back in very slowly. Gonzalez hasn't played since Week 1.

Colts beat writer John Oehser speculates that if/when Anthony Gonzalez (knee) returns, he'll spend more time in the slot than outside.
We still don't know if Gonzalez will return at all this season. If used primarily in the slot, Gonzalez would take more snaps away from Austin Collie than Pierre Garcon, something that we expect to see next season as well. Gonzalez's skill set is more befitting of a slot man than outside receiver. He doesn't play particularly "big" and isn't a deep threat.
