 John Phillips-TE- CowboysJan. 24 - 10:11 am et
By the end of the season, John Phillips "was a more trusted pass catcher than [Martellus] Bennett," according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
That may be true, but Phillips' doesn't have anywhere near the upside that Marty B has. As long as he focuses and works hard in the offseason, Bennett will return as Jason Witten's primary backup. Phillips is the No. 3 tight end.

 Martellus Bennett-TE - Cowboys Jan. 21 - 5:03 pm et

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggested that TE Martellus Bennett needs to get "down to business" this offseason if he wants to break out like Anthony Spencer and Mike Jenkins.
"I'm confident he sees that," said Jones. "He's extremely smart ... I think focus would be the word. He will get a lot more Tweets if he's a big-time ballplayer than he will just off of his creative ability." Bennett was a colossal disappointment in 2009 after the coaching staff hyped him all summer. Realistically, he'll need a Jason Witten injury to have fantasy value in the next couple of seasons.

 Martellus Bennett-TE - Cowboys Jan. 17 - 5:06 pm et

Martellus Bennett caught three balls for 27 yards in the Cowboys' season-ending playoff loss to Minnesota.
Bennett looked strong going over the middle early, but Dallas ultimately found little success in the passing game. Still just 23 (he turns in March), Bennett ended his second regular season with 15 grabs for 159 yards. He'd be a fantasy starter if Jason Witten got hurt, but Witten's never missed a game.
 Martellus Bennett-TE - Cowboys Dec. 28 - 9:34 am et

Martellus Bennett (concussion) was immediately inserted back into two-tight end formations against the Redskins Sunday night.
Bennett had missed the previous two games because of his concussion. He was targeted twice and came up with no catches. Bennett remains a talented prospect to watch down the line.

 Martellus Bennett-TE - Cowboys Dec. 21 - 12:55 pm et

Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett (concussion) and RT Marc Colombo (leg, ankle) have been cleared to resume practicing.
Colombo's return will improve Dallas' strong-side blocking, while getting Bennett back will give OCB Jason Garrett more options. It's worth noting, however, that rookie John Phillips played well in Bennett's place against the Saints, catching three balls for 40 yards. Bennett won't make a fantasy impact.

 Martellus Bennett-TE - Cowboys Dec. 19 - 7:11 pm et

Cowboys declared TE Martellus Bennett, third QB Stephen McGee, S Patrick Watkins, CB Cletis Gordon, OG Montrae Holland, C Duke Preston, OT Marc Colombo and OLB Curtis Johnson inactive for Saturday's game against the Saints.
The talented Bennett misses his second straight game while DeMarcus Ware (neck) is ready to go. No other surprises for the Cowboys who desperately need to spring an upset.
