Matt Hasselbeck is already lobbying for John Carlson's role in the passing game to expand in 2010.
"He was a great team player this year, but I also think he has playmaking ability," Hasselbeck said, adding that he plans to "throw a bunch" with Carlson this offseason. Carlson scored in each of Seattle's last five games. With Nate Burleson set to depart, he figures to be leaned on more in 2010.

John Carlson caught two passes for 14 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's Week 17 loss to the Titans.
Severely underutilized mostly due to offensive line woes that required him to block, Carlson made a rare second-year TE regression in 2009. He did close somewhat strong by scoring touchdowns in each of his last four games. Seattle's offseason movement will have a large bearing on Carlson's 2010 fantasy outlook. He's undoubtedly a top talent at his position.

So much for Carlson being heavily involved in the offense again following a strong Week 15. Only a garbage-time touchdown kept him from being a complete non-factor for fantasy owners.

John Carlson caught seven passes for 86 yards and one touchdown in Week 15 against the Bucs.
Finally. Carlson has been an afterthought in the Seahawks' passing game of late, totaling just 78 yards in the previous five games. He made several defenders miss before diving into the end zone for a 29-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

John Carlson caught three passes for 24 yards and a touchdown against the Texans in Week 14.
Carlson hauled in a short pass at the stripe, barely breaking the plane before being pulled out of the end zone. Sunday's line qualified as his best fantasy performance since Week 1, and the touchdown was just his fourth of the year. Keep Carlson benched against the Buccaneers next week.

The Seahawks went without a tight end on a season-high 23.9 percent of their offensive plays last week.
John Carlson was getting blown up as a run blocker, and the Seahawks' improved receiving depth leaves him with a lesser role in the passing game. His fantasy value is shot for 2009, but he'd benefit from an improved offensive line next season.
