 Brady Quinn-QB- BrownsJan. 14 - 9:34 am et
Browns president Mike Holmgren and GM Tom Heckert have both made it clear that they need to upgrade at quarterback this offseason.
Derek Anderson is unlikely to return with a $2M roster bonus in March, and Brady Quinn hasn't shown enough to be counted on as the starter again. Considering the new front office hires, beat writer Tony Grossi expects Matt Hasselbeck, Donovan McNabb, and Kevin Kolb to be the primary trade targets.

 Matt Hasselbeck-QB - Seahawks Jan. 12 - 4:47 pm et

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll indicated Tuesday that he plans to stick with Matt Hasselbeck as his starting quarterback.
"I know that we have a first-class guy in Matt and I can't wait to get working with him," added Carroll, who emphasized that Hasselbeck is fully healthy after battling a shoulder injury late in the season. With the Seahawks expected to target quarterback and left tackle with their two first-round picks, it makes sense to have Hasselbeck around for one more season to groom his successor.

Coach Jim Mora said Wednesday that he expects Matt Hasselbeck to be a Seahawk in 2010.
Mora's future hasn't even been determined yet, so he can't speak with any authority. "I'm just going to go work until I'm told not to work," Mora admitted. Hasselbeck will be a trade candidate if Seattle drafts a QB high in April.

 Matt Hasselbeck-QB - Seahawks Jan. 3 - 7:35 pm et

Matt Hasselbeck completed just 15-of-30 passes for 175 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Seattle's Week 17 loss.
Hasselbeck put together the ugliest three-game stretch of his career to finish off the year, turning the ball over 10 times. He ends the season with a 17:17 TD-to-INT ratio and 6.1 YPA, the latter of which is a career-worst during a year in which Hasselbeck played at least eight games. Due a $5.75 million salary in 2010, Hasselbeck is unlikely to be released in the offseason if only because the Seahawks lack any sort of alternative. But he could be traded if they draft a franchise QB in April.

ESPN's Mike Sando suggests that Matt Hasselbeck "might be a natural fit" for the Browns now that Mike Holmgren is Cleveland's team president.
Holmgren is going to hire a head coach that will install the West Coast offense, which Hasselbeck knows as well as anyone. The upshot for Seattle would be getting a mid-round pick (probably no better than a conditional fourth-rounder). Keeping Hasselbeck at his scheduled salary of $5.8 million is another possibility for the Seahawks if they can't find a viable replacement.

 Matt Hasselbeck-QB - Seahawks Dec. 28 - 10:45 am et

Seahawks coach Jim Mora admitted he thought about benching Matt Hasselbeck during Sunday's loss to the Packers.
Hasselbeck really struggled again, throwing four interceptions for the second straight week. The performances raise questions about Hasselbeck's future because his contract is up after next season. He's lacking arm strength and has thrown 16 touchdowns and 16 picks this year to go with just two 300-yard games. The team's new GM is going to have some big decisions to make.
