Bills FS Jairus Byrd is two weeks removed from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip and has a four-month rehab in front of him.
Byrd's status for the offseason program is in doubt, but he's confident he'll be ready for training camp. The No. 42 overall pick in last year's draft finished second in Defensive ROY voting after picking off nine passes to tie for the NFL lead. However, it's unclear if Byrd will start next season.

Bills FS Jairus Byrd (injured reserve) says he played at only 70 percent for most of the season and is awaiting more groin surgery.
Byrd missed all of training camp after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia. The problem lingered and he played through discomfort for most of the season. Byrd still made an impressive run at the NFL's Defensive ROY award, although it's hard to imagine him winning it after going on I.R.

Bills placed FS Jairus Byrd on injured reserve (groin), ending his season.
The second-round rookie out of Oregon leads the league in interceptions with nine and has been a major part of a Bills' secondary that has been one of the team's bright spots this season. Byrd will return next season as the team's starting free safety.

Bills rookie FS Jairus Byrd leads the league in interceptions with nine.
Byrd, a cornerback at Oregon, has led an impressive season for the Bills' ballhawking secondary. It's even more impressive considering he missed most of training camp due to sports hernia surgery and was dealing with a sore groin for more than a month. He'll be a strong candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year, along with Brian Cushing and Brian Orakpo.

Byrd is listed as questionable, but the NFL's interception leader (eight) will likely give it a go. He is a ball hawk and is making a case for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Bills rookie FS Jairus Byrd (questionable, groin) will take part in warmups today and is hopeful to play when the Bills take on the Jags.
Byrd was limited in practice all week. He leads the league with eight interceptions and has recorded a pick in five straight games. The team signed Cary Harris off their practice squad on Friday, and special teamer Todd Johnson would likely draw the start if Byrd can't go.
