ESPN's Chris Mortensen says the Texans are among the teams that will show interest in LaDainian Tomlinson after the veteran is cut.
The Texans are expected to make an early-down running back a priority this offseason, but we doubt Tomlinson would be their answer. He can no longer get four yards consistently on first down. Mortensen also said that Drew Brees could lobby for his former teammate to join him in New Orleans, somewhere he could simply be a short-yardage kind of back.

 LaDainian Tomlinson-RB - Chargers Feb. 5 - 9:37 am et

As part of LaDainian Tomlinson's restructured deal last offseason, the Chargers have reportedly agreed not to trade him -- "out of respect" for the franchise icon.
Tomlinson said he will "definitely" play next season, and he's come to grips with the fact that he won't be back in San Diego. Hopefully, the Chargers will hold a classy farewell for their future Hall of Famer, similar to the sendoff given to Emmitt Smith when he left the Cowboys for the Cardinals late in his career.

LaDainian Tomlinson said Thursday that he's come to terms with the fact that he won't be back in San Diego in 2010.
"I'm not coming back," Tomlinson said. "I've accepted it." The future Hall of Famer said of his time with the Chargers that the "the football part is fun, but the business part sucks." LT doesn't know when he'll be released, but his agent will likely call the team to "expediate the process."

Beat writer Kevin Acee expects the Chargers to release LaDainian Tomlinson before his $2 million roster bonus comes due on March 5.
This is hardly a surprise. The Chargers "don't seem inclined" to pay Tomlinson's full $5 million salary for 2010. Both sides have indicated that they're not interested in restructuring a deal that had already been reworked once. The Chargers need to fix a broken running game, and a declining Tomlinson clearly isn't part of the solution.

In an interview with San Diego station XX 1090, LaDainian Tomlinson insisted Tuesday that he would not take a paycut "under any circumstances."
LT says he's unhappy with changes in the organization, but he wouldn't rule out returning to San Diego. "I can see a lot of things happening," said Tomlinson. "I just kind of leave it open." If he's truly unwilling to restructure, his future almost certainly lies outside of San Diego.

 LaDainian Tomlinson-RB - Chargers Jan. 25 - 6:16 pm et

LaDainian Tomlinson complained about his role in the Chargers' offense to XX Sports Radio in San Diego on Monday.
"I wasn’t happy," he said. "No one is going to be happy with the least amount of touches in my career. Absolutely I wasn’t happy with not touching the ball as much as I thought I would." LT also criticized coach Norv Turner's pass-first approach, despite the team's dead-last ranking in yards-per-carry average. To think Tomlinson should've gotten the ball more is delusional.
