According to Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker, 18-year-old left-hander Yusei Kikuchi is expected to announce whether he will pitch in the United States by the end of the month.
Newman cites multiple sources out of Japan saying that the soonest he will make a decision is October 24. According to Nikkan Sports, Kikuchi has a self-imposed deadline of October 26. Kikuchi, whose fastball has been clocked at 96 MPH, is currently weighing whether to skip the Nippon Professional Baseball draft to play in the United States. The Red Sox, Dodgers, Giants, Rangers, Yankees, Mets, Indians and Mariners have all expressed varying degrees of interest in the Japanese southpaw. If Kikuchi decides to pitch in the United States, he will surely begin his career on the minor league level.

Holland accompanied Jim Colborn, Rangers' director of Pacific Rim operations, in a first round of meetings with Kikuchi. The young southpaw is considering whether to skip the Nippon Professional Baseball draft to play in the United States. He has generated interest from all the usual suspects, including the Red Sox, Dodgers, Giants, Yankees, Mets, Indians and Mariners. Yusei Kikuchi spoke with four Japanese teams on what these teams could offer him should he choose to play in the Japanese major leagues.
Kikuchi is a left-handed 18-year old who is drawing a ton of interest from both Japan and America. Kikuchi is considering making the jump to the MLB much like Junichi Tazawa did and is currently weighing all his options. Interested teams are the Red Sox, Dodgers, Rangers, Giants, Yankees, Mets and Mariners. It seems likely the new Japanese phenom will decide by the end of October.
