Chris Chelios has a Feb. 1 court date, according to reports, for a Dec. 28 drunk driving charge.
He was arrested early Dec. 28 and charged with speeding and driving under the influence. Chelios is currently playing in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves.

Phoenix Coyotes' GM Don Maloney has some interest in signing veteran defenseman Chris Chelios.
He is projected to do some scouting when Chelios comes to play against the Coyotes' AHL affiliate in San Antonio on Friday. Chelios is currently playing with the Chicago Wolves. Phoenix has been hit hard with injuries to their blueline of late and having a player with some experience back there would certainly help them out. Stay tuned.

Chris Chelios has agreed to terms with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
He was with the team earlier on a tryout basis. The 47-year-old defenseman will suit up for the Thrashers' AHL affiliate on Friday against the Manitoba Moose. "It is an honor for us to have him," said general manager Wendell Young. "We are very excited to have someone of Chris' stature join our team. He will be an excellent example for our young players to watch, both on and off the ice." Chelios is still trying to catch on with an NHL club.

Chris Chelios has joined Atlanta's AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, on a tryout basis.
"I'm playing because I love playing," Chelios said. "I have to see if I can still play. It's a challenge." Chelios' goal is to play hockey until he's 50. He had been playing with Detroit since 1998-99, but the Red Wings decided against offering him a new contract in the off-season. Chelios will probably continue to play in the AHL until he can find an NHL team that will take a chance on him.

Chris Chelios will begin skating with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
Chelios is 47 and wants to play hockey until he is 50. The Red Wings did not offer him a contract in the off-season, so Chelios is looking for a new team. "I've talked to Cheli about it," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "I think that's a good move for him. If you're playing you're a lot more attractive. Cheli doesn't mind playing in Chicago. He'd rather play with the other team. He wants to play in the NHL. Chicago gives him an opportunity in a town that he knows real well that gets him going and gets him playing. Cheli is a guy who knows how to play and how to help your locker room and so to me he'll be a perfect fit for someone." We wish Chelios good luck in his effort to get back into the NHL and become only the second 50-year-old to play in the top league. Gordie Howe was the first and he played when he was 52.

Chris Chelios will talk to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL if he is unable to get a job in the NHL.
Chelios wants to keep playing hockey, but at age 47, there are currently no takers in the NHL. "I've talked to them, and they've offered me that possibility," Chelios said of the Wolves. "Basically, I'm waiting to see what happens. I want to play really bad, but if I don't ... it's been good." Needless to say, Chelios has no fantasy value.
