Steelers SS Troy Polamalu is not believed to have required surgery on the torn PCL that cost him 11 games in 2009.

The apparent rehab plan involves only rest. Polamalu appeared in just five games last season, though he impressively made three interceptions and was a difference maker when available. He should be ready in time for OTAs.

Steelers declared Troy Polamalu (knee) inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Polamalu's injuries crippled the defending Super Bowl champs this season. He'll return at 100 percent next season. The Steelers also declared third QB Charlie Batch, CB Trae Williams, OG Kraig Urbik, OT Tony Hills, DE Sunny Harris, WR Joey Galloway and DE Brett Keisel inactive.

Troy Polamalu (knee) will not play on Sunday against the Dolphins.

Jason La Canfora confirms what was thought all week long. Polamalu practiced on a limited basis during the week, but he will miss his seventh straight game. With the Steelers needing a lot of help to make the playoffs, they are better off letting their All Pro safety heal up for 2010.

Troy Polamalu (knee) admitted that he's unlikely to play in the season finale Sunday.

Polamalu practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, but he's missed six straight games and the Steelers would need a miracle to make the playoffs. The Steelers are better off letting their All Pro safety get ready for next season.

Troy Polamalu (knee) ran on Monday and hasn't been ruled out for Week 17.

Polamalu will run again today to see how the knee responds. If he can get back in practice this week, he could suit up against the Dolphins Sunday. The Steelers are still alive in the playoff chase, but would need a lot of help.

Troy Polamalu (knee) will not play against the Ravens Sunday, as expected.

At this point, Polamalu could be thinking about shutting it down for the season. This is the sixth straight game he has missed, after missing four earlier this season with an injury to the same knee.
