 Jeff Francoeur-OF - Mets Dec. 15 - 3:46 pm et

Jeff Francoeur (thumb) told Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post that he lost so much ligament in his left thumb that doctors had to transplant ligament from his forearm during surgery in November.
Say what you will about Frenchy, but you can't say he's not tough. He injured the thumb while making a diving catch in late August, but kept trucking, batting .319/.342/.493 over his final 36 games. He's expected to be fully recovered in time for spring training.

According to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post, Mets GM Omar Minaya said Friday that he "wouldn't rule out" a contract extension for Jeff Francoeur.
Francoeur, who turns 26 this winter, was impressive during his time in New York this past season, batting .311/.338/.498 with 10 home runs, 20 doubles and 41 RBI in 289 at-bats. He's under team control until the 2012, but the Mets would like to lock him up through his arbitration years.

Jeff Francoeur underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb.
Francoeur suffered the injury while making a diving catch in late August, but played through the pain while hitting .319/.342/.493 in his final 36 games. He'll be back with the Mets next season after putting together a good second half following a trade from Atlanta.

 Jeff Francoeur-OF - Mets Oct. 2 - 9:52 pm et

Jeff Francoeur was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in a win over the Astros on Friday night.
He broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run blast in the sixth. Seemingly a man on a mission, Francoeur is batting .313 with 10 homers and 41 RBI in 284 at-bats since coming over from the Braves in early July. A generous one-year contract would be a just reward, but buying out his arbitration years would be madness.
 Jeff Francoeur-OF - Mets Sep. 27 - 3:45 pm et

Jeff Francoeur belted a two-run homer in the Mets' 4-0 win over the Marlins today.
Francoeur also singled in the contest, raising his average with the Mets to .313. While he has shown increased power since coming over from Atlanta, Francoeur's value is tied mostly to his average. Since the increase in average hasn't been accompanied by an increase in plate discipline or decrease in strikeouts it's likely just some significant BABIP luck. He'll be back with the Mets next season, but he still won't be a recommended fantasy option.
