Dudley Hart underwent spinal fusion surgery five weeks ago to relieve the pain caused by the near total loss of a disk.
"I found out my hip was fine, but basically my L5-S1 disk was gone," Hart said. "It was bone on bone. The doctors feel once I heal it should buy me a good 15, 20 years of playing competitive golf. The doctor said an aggressive timeline would be six months until I’m practicing full bore. He said six to nine months." Hart will start 2010 on a Major Medical extension, which would afford him approximately 15 starts to earn what should be about $700K, setting up another run at Comeback Player of the Year (he won it in 2008). Now that the other shoe has dropped on his status, go ahead and send him to the free agent pile. |
