Ross Fisher defeated Anthony Kim 4&3 in the final of the Volvo World Match Play Championship at Finca Cortesin GC in Casares, Spain.
Fisher had an eagle-2 and 10 birdies in the scheduled 36-hole finale and lost just two holes to Kim birdies. This event was originally scheduled for late September, and faced criticism because it was switched to the week of the co-sanctioned Singapore Open and one week in advance of the WGC-HSBC Champions in China. Expect it to find a new date in 2010.

Ross Fisher chased his opening 73 with a 4-under-par 33-35=68 in the second round of the 91st PGA Championship.
Fisher owns the lowest aggregate score of the 15 golfers that have made the cut in the previous three majors this year, so that he's an aggregate 3-under and near the top of the leaderboard in Minnesota is hardly a shock. He was 6-under through 16 holes before dropping shots on each of his final two holes.

Ross Fisher's wife, Jo, gave birth to the couple's first child, a girl, on Saturday.
"Jo is doing great," Fisher wrote on his web site. "She was 10 days over-due and last week all Jo wanted was just to get it over and done with! But thankfully it was a natural birth and no other measures were required." Fisher can now tee it up at the WGC-Bridgestone and PGA Championship without the uncertainty that hovered over him at the British. "I am sure I will find it very hard to leave them for two weeks. But they are two very big tournaments and Jo fully supports my decision to play both events."

Ross Fisher posted a third round of even-par 70 and is a single stroke back at the British Open.
Fisher made the turn at even-par, however he started sliding down the leader board after bogeys at the 12th and 14th holes. He then was able put back-to-back birdies together starting at the 16th hole to put himself into a three-way tie for the lead, but Fisher tied for overnight second place after Tom Watson carded his birdie at the par-5 16th. Fisher's wife is expecting their first child any day now and a dream scenario for him would to win the British Open on Sunday, then fly back home to be there for birth of their child.

Ross Fisher has accepted Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour.
The Brit has cashed in just three events in the U.S. this year, but has earned $588,575, more than $50K greater than what Todd Hamilton banked finishing 150th on the 2008 money list. Fisher is now allowed unlimited sponsor's exemptions and is not restricted to the number of events he can play. He is already eligible to compete in the U.S. and British Opens.

Ross Fischer was disqualified on Friday from the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Fischer was 9-over-par in his second round and was disqualified because he signed an incorrect scorecard.
