On Tuesday, Jerry Kelly learned that his back soreness is due to a problem with a facet joint, not a sacroiliac joint as first believed.
The discovery means that Kelly will not need surgery right now. After meeting with UW's head athletic trainer, Dennis Helwig, Kelly was examined by spine specialist, Dr. James Leonard, who took X-rays and performed an MRI on the golfer. While Kelly was to review the results of the MRI on Wednesday, the prognosis is that he should be ready to play Pebble Beach on February 11. "I feel too good about my game," Kelly said. "I'm itching already to get out there." Source: Madison.com
