Martin Kaymer intends to tee it up at the Waste Management Open on Feb. 25-28.
The Abu Dhabi champion and world's sixth-ranked golfer will make his 2010 U.S. debut at the WGC-Match Play the week prior. He has an apartment near TPC Scottsdale. Combined with the unusually late spot for the Phoenix stop on the PGA Tour schedule, it's a no-brainer for Kaymer to compete. (Billy Mayfair and Rickie Fowler have already received sponsor exemptions for the WM.) Kaymer is still walking around with a titanium plate in his right foot from surgery in late August, but intends to keep it there until he can afford to take a break. A year ago, from the Match Play through THE PLAYERS, he made six starts in the U.S. Expect a similar schedule this spring.

Martin Kaymer shot a bogey-free, 6-under-par 32-34=66 in the final round of the Abu Dhabi Championship, winning the event by one stroke over Ian Poulter, who also finished with a bogey-free 66.
Kaymer's tap-in birdie at the par-5 72nd hole moved him to 21-under and sealed his seventh European Tour title. Poulter could only manage pars on his final six holes. Rory McIlroy finished in solo third, two strokes adrift. Fresh off his wrist injury, Sergio Garcia finished T13 with Anthony Kim. SBS champ, Geoff Ogilvy, placed T34. Next week's Qatar Masters awaits the best the European Tour offers, and Kenny Perry, who has accepted an appearance fee to compete.

Martin Kaymer was one of 17 golfers to qualify for the 2010 Masters via the final world ranking of 2009.
With no golf anywhere affecting it this week, OWGR.com has already calculated next week's year-ending edition used to help fill the field for the first major of 2010. At 13th, Kaymer is the highest of the 17 punching tickets to Augusta National that were not already eligible. The others: Robert Allenby (21st), Anthony Kim (24th), Robert Karlsson (27th), Ryo Ishikawa (30th), Yuta Ikeda (33rd), Adam Scott (34th), Soren Kjeldsen (35th), Francesco Molinari (38th), Graeme McDowell (39th), Anders Hansen (40th), Oliver Wilson (41st), Simon Dyson (43rd), Michael Sim (44th), Edoardo Molinari (48th), Miguel Angel Jimenez (49th) and Ben Curtis (50th).

Martin Kaymer was 4-under-par through 12 holes of the Castello Masters in Spain when darkness suspended the first round.
Off since the PGA Championship due to broken toes suffered in a go-kart accident, Kaymer wasted no time in reminding his competitors that he remains a force. He's drained five birdies and sits four shots off Sergio Garcia's clubhouse lead (8-under 63). Due to the injury and subsequent surgery, Kaymer slipped to third in the Race to Dubai standings and 12th in the world ranking, but he entered this week technically with a two-tourney winning streak in Europe, dating back to victories at the French and Scottish Opens in July.

The Press Association has reported that Martin Kaymer is hoping to return to competition at the Castello Masters in Spain on October 22-25.
Kaymer required surgery on his toes after his go-kart accident three weeks ago. He began his rehab today. It is highly unlikely that he will remain atop the Race to Dubai standings during his time away.

Martin Kaymer broke three bones in his foot in a go-kart accident in the United States and is expected to be out of action until mid-October.
Kaymer's U.S. stint ended at the PGA Championship but this is a huge blow the German, who is currently #1 in the Race to Dubai rankings. He overtook Paul Casey in the Race when the Brit went down with a torn interior oblique muscle. And that was right around the same time that the European Tour announced a 25-percent reduction in the purse for the inaugural competition. Kaymer was scheduled for surgery today. "Obviously this is a very unfortunate situation," he said, "but I have a top medical team around me which will provide the best treatment to get me back into the competition. I will do everything to recover as soon as possible."
