Retief Goosen fired a final round of 8-under-par 62 and finished in fourth place at the Sony Open.
Goosen opened the round with a bogey and then went on a run of four birdies on the front nine, with five more birdies on the back nine. Surprisingly, he didn't birdie the par-5 18th hole, which played the second easiest on the day.

Retief Goosen will play in this week's TOUR Championship as the 15th ranked player in the FedExCup PlayoFfs.
Goosen won early in the year at the Transitions Championship, but after a playoff loss at the Canadian Open he was in a bit of mini-slump entering the FedExCup Playoffs. He found his form again at the Deutsche Bank Championship where he tied for eighth place and a T-23 at the BMW Championship moved him up two places to the 15th spot in the field. His past history on the East Lake course is very good, with four top-10s in four starts, including a championship in 2004.

Retief Goosen posted a final round of 3-under-par 69 and finished in second place after a playoff at the RBC Canadian Open.
Goosen was tied for the lead going into the 14th hole, but back-to-back bogeys dropped him two-strokes off the lead. Going into the final hole Goosen needed an eagle to tie and he got that, when he was able to convert from 16-feet, plus he was aided when the co-leader Nathan Green had to scramble to save par at the par-5 18th. Goosen did have a good chance to win on the first playoff hole, but he missed a six-foot birdie-putt for the championship. A poor shot off the tee at the second playoff hole caused Goosen to get on the green in three and he had a chance to continue the playoff, but he couldn't convert the six-foot par-putt. The P-2 is his best finish on the PGA Tour since his victory at the Transitions Championship earlier this year, and if you include including European Tour events, this is Goosen's fourth consecutive Top 6 finish.

Retief Goosen has carded a pair of 4-under-par 68s in the first two rounds of Quail Hollow Championship to claim a share of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.
Once again showing patience and persistence, Goosen hit a so-so 24 GIR but has scrambled well, taking just 53 putts in his two loops of Quail Hollow. This is his first start since missing the cut at the Masters, but any rust is masked by 11 birdies over three bogeys. He's second in the clubhouse after Bubba Watson at 8-under 136.

Retief Goosen carded a final round of 1-under-par 70 and won the Transitions Championship by one-stroke, over Bret Quigley and Charles Howell III.
Goosen played the front nine in even-par and at the turn was two-strokes off the lead. He made his move at the 11th hole by getting on the par-5 green in two and then he made the 17-foot eagle-putt to vault over the rest of the field. His lead widened out to two-strokes, but a bogey at the 16th hole cut the lead to one. He was able to save par at the 17th hole, with a great chip from the rough, and on the final hole he sank a clutch 5-foot par-putt for the championship. This is the seventh career PGA Tour championship for Goosen and it is his first since the 2005 INTERNATIONAL.

Retief Goosen posted a third round of 2-under-par 69 and is one-stroke off the lead going into Sunday's final round of the Transitions Championship.
Goosen made his second birdie of the day at the 9th hole and he took a one-shot lead going into the back nine. He owned or shared the lead for the next five holes, until Tom Lehman passed him after his fourth consecutive birdie at the 15th hole. As the greens dried out in the afternoon, most of the field gave strokes back, but Goosen played par-golf and stayed one-stroke in back of Lehman. On Sunday, Goosen will be looking for his seventh career PGA Tour title and his first since the 2005 INTERNATIONAL.
