Rory Sabbatini carded a final round of 6-under-par 64 and won the HP Byron Nelson Championship by two-strokes over Brian Davis.
Sabbatini opened up a one-stroke lead on the 1st hole, after co-leader and playing partner John Mallinger bogeyed the opening hole. The lead soon widened out to two-strokes for Sabbatini, but even though he was 2-under-par at the turn he found himself in a tie for the lead with a hard charging Brian Davis. A 15-foot birdie-putt at the 11th hole gave him the sole lead and after four more birdies he found himself with a three-shot lead going into the final hole. He played conservative on the final hole, which cost him a stroke, but when he knocked in the 5-foot bogey-putt he still had set a new scoring record for the HP Byron Nelson. The championship is the fifth of his career, plus it has earned him spots in this year's U.S. and British Opens (via the money list, where he's 7th), PGA Championship and the 2010 Masters.
