Zach Johnson posted a final round of even-par 70 and won the Valero Texas Open on the first hole of a playoff with James Driscoll.
Johnson went low on Saturday with a round of 60, but on Sunday's final round he had problems finding the green in regulation. The result was a number of players had a shot at the Texas Open title. Johnson stayed close to the lead for most of the day, but it looked dark for him when he was a stroke back with two holes to play. It took a bogey-bogey finish by the leader Paul Goydos to create the playoff between Johnson and James Driscoll. Both players found the fairway in the playoff at the 18th hole, but Johnson was able to put his approach 10-feet from the cup and almost on the same line the he had moments earlier. Driscoll missed his 27-foot birdie-putt, then Johnson put his putt into the heart of the cup for the victory. The championship is the second this season for Johnson and it is his sixth career title on the PGA Tour. The victory also has now moved him up to the top of the FedExCup Points List.
