Pat Perez signed for a 1-over-par 35-36=71 after his opening round of the Travelers Championship.
Ignore the score, although it's not bad considering his injury. Shortly after tearing two ligaments six weeks ago, he had thought he'd be off until late July. Perez has Twittered that he's using the Travelers as "spring training" for next week's AT&T National.

Pat Perez posted on his Twitter page today that he's hoping to play in next week's Travelers Championship.
"Aiming for a comeback next week at the Travelers." Perez wrote. "We'll see how it plays out and if I'm heading east, or not." This is a nice surprise and suggests that his rehab from two torn ligaments in his ankle is going well, but like others returning from injuries, by no means should you consider starting him if he's able to play.

Pat Perez announced on his web site that an MRI has revealed that he tore two ligaments in his ankle and will be sidelined up to two months.
"My doc is calling for four weeks to recover and then four weeks of physical therapy, which would make for a late July return," Perez wrote, although a second opinion might convince him otherwise. "I'm going to lay low this week and will probably head over to API (Athlete's Performance) sometime next week to hear what they have to say about the rehab process." Perez is also expecting the cast on his ankle to remain there "for several weeks."

Pat Perez withdrew from the HP Byron Nelson Championship today due to an ankle injury he suffered while running with his dog last week.
"He doesn't complain real easily, but he said he thought he broke it at first," Perez' caddie, Mike Hartford said about his boss. "He may have torn a tendon. I know he's aiming to play at Colonial [May 28], but it's doubtful he'll be able to." By virtue of his Bob Hope victory, Perez is eligible for the PGA Championship, but has yet to qualify for the U.S. and British Opens. It's not impossible for him to qualify for either at this moment, but it is unlikely if his injury is as bad as it sounds.
