Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods won by a score of 4 & 2 over Y.E. Yang and Ryo Ishikawa in Match 21 of the Presidents Cup.
Stricker was on fire in the afternoon and he recorded seven birdies to give the Americans a 6-up lead with six holes to play. The International team countered by winning the next three holes, but their fate was finally sealed when Tiger Woods birdied the 16th hole. The win gives Stricker and Woods a perfect record in this year's President Cup and moved the Americans out to a 12 to 9 margin over the International team.

Steve Stricker enters the week as the second ranked player in the FedExCup Finals that are being played at THE TOUR Championship.
Stricker has played well throughout the season and coming into the Playoffs he had eight top-10s, including championships at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial and the John Deere Classic. In the Playoffs, he opened with a T-2 at The Barclays and the next week won the Deutsche Bank Championship to take over first place in the FedExCup rankings. The top spot only lasted for a week after Stricker finished in a tie for 53rd place at the BMW Championship. He has played the East Course three times and his only top-10 came in 1998, when he tied for fifth place.

Steve Stricker is 3-over-par 72-73=145 after two rounds of the BMW Championship.
Entering the week ranked #1 in FedExCup points and on the heels of his emotional victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship, Stricker figured to be a favorite at Cog Hill this week. Instead, he's playing sloppy, hitting just 23 GIR and requiring 61 putts through 36 holes, leading to a total of eight holes over par. If 36-hole co-leader, Tiger Woods, manages to win the BMW, Stricker is guaranteed to fall from the top spot in the FedExCup standings, but other scenarios exist for the same result even if Woods doesn't win.

Steve Stricker carded a final round of 4-under-par 67 and won the Deutsche Bank Championship by a stroke over Jason Dufner and Scott Verplank.
On his opening nine, Stricker opened with birdies at the 2nd and 4th holes, and after a great long par-putt at the ninth hole, he made the turn in a three-way tie for the lead. The back nine saw him fall a stroke off the lead after seven straight pars, but then a 15-foot birdie at the 17th tied him for the lead and he sealed the victory at the par-5 18th hole with a two-foot birdie-putt. The victory is his third of the year and his seventh career PGA Tour Championship. The Deutsche Bank Championship title also carries double FedExCup points and Stricker has now past Tiger Woods for first place on the list.

Steve Stricker carded a third round of 6-under-par 65 and shares the lead with Retief Goosen and Sean O'Hair at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Stricker started the day five-strokes off the lead but a hot opening nine with four birdies and a bogey moved him up to within a couple of strokes of the lead. On the back nine, he was 1-under-par going into the par-5 final hole, when a brilliant approach to 5-feet led to an eagle and a one stroke lead. Retief Goosen soon tied for the lead a few moments later with a 13-foot birdie at the 16th, but he couldn't go lower in the closing two holes. Sean O'Hair was in the final group and was 1-over-par on his round going into the 16th hole, but he was able to birdie two of the three closing holes to reclaim a share of the lead. There are currently 20 players within five shots of the lead, which should set up an exciting Labor Day finish.

Steve Stricker blistered TPC Boston with a bogey-free, 8-under-par 31-32=63 in the opening round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
On the heels of his T-2 at The Barclays and entering the week ranked 2nd in FedExCup points, Stricker hit 12 (of 14) fairways, 15 GIR and needed a mere 25 putts today. He finished with a two-stroke clubhouse lead. Conditions were perfect for scoring and they should remain that way throughout the holiday weekend.
