Ricky Barnes carded a bogey-free 33-33=66 in his opening round of the Northern Trust Open.
After a 2009 season during which his only top-45 finish, other than the co-runner-up at the quirky quagmire that was the U.S. Open, was a T39 at the Frys.com, Barnes has improved considerably with his putting. Entering the week with 13 rounds logged in 2010, he sat 29th in putting (compared to 180th in 67 rounds in '09). Today he drained five birdies thanks to a relatively tidy 28 putts (13 GIR). Dare we say that he just might be a sleeper in fantasy formats that reward positive results ... |
