Ryan Moore carded a final round of 5-under-par 65 and won the Wyndham Championship on the third playoff hole over Kevin Stadler and Jason Bohn.
Moore was only 1-under-par for the round at the turn, but on the back nine he ran off five consecutive birdies starting at the 12th hole to grab a brief one-stroke lead. He was tied for the lead at the final hole, but a poor tee shot cost him a stroke and three-way playoff happened when Kevin Stadler couldn't make an 8-foot par-putt for the championship. Moore had a chance on the first playoff hole for the championship, but his birdie-putt just missed. On the third playoff hole, Stadler and Moore were playing the difficult 18th hole. Moore hit a perfect drive, and after Stadler had hit his approach through the green, Moore was able to put his approach to within eight-feet of the hole. After Stadler had more problems around the green, Moore had a cushion of two-putts for the championship, but he drained his eight-foot birdie-putt for the championship. Moore has a long list of championships when he was in he amatuer ranks, but today's victory is his first on the PGA Tour |
