Brian Davis shot a 4-over-par 39-37=76 in the opening round of the 91st PGA Championship.
This is the Brit's first action since withdrawing after 28 holes at Glen Abbey three weeks ago. He started today with three straight bogeys and couldn't turn it around, with only one birdie, at the par-4 14th hole.

Brian Davis was added to the field for next week's PGA Championship.
Davis qualified via the special money list that ended with the Buick Open. He pulled out of the Canadian after 28 holes last week without an explanation. This will be his first start in the PGA Championship since 2005.

Brian Davis withdrew during his second round of the Canadian Open today.
No explanation was provided. He was 7-over-par through 28 holes at the time he pulled out. The Brit has been borderline dreadful since his trio of top-5s in May, with zero top-30s in seven starts. He is not listed in the published field of next week's Buick Open.

Brian Davis carded an even-par 35-35=70 in the opening round of the AT&T National.
Davis never publicized a reason why he opted not to complete his final two holes of the Travelers, but he wasn't going to make that cut without some divine intervention. Consider him back in play.

Brian Davis withdrew during his second round of the Travelers Championship.
Davis was 1-over-par through 34 holes when he pulled out. If an explanation is provided, we will update you. For the record, we never make any assumptions that guys quit based on where they stand in relation to the cut. That said, it's never unusual to see a handful of WDs late on Friday after play is suspended for the day. Davis is listed in the published field of next week's AT&T National, where his T-30 in the inaugural edition in 2007 is his better finish in two starts.

Brian Davis played two rounds of the Memorial in 11-over-par and will miss the cut.
If there was ever a venue for a non-major that was going to snap Davis' string of 24 consecutive rounds of par or better, Muirfield Village would be on the short list. He opened with a 6-over 78 that included five bogeys and two doubles, then returned today for a 77 that featured three bogeys and a 9 on the par-4 3rd. Hope you enjoyed the run while it lasted.
