Roland Thatcher posted a 3-under-par 35-33=68 in the opening round of the Northern Trust Open.
Back in action after withdrawing after one round from last week's Farmers, Thatcher showed no signs of bother, with just one bogey against four birdies. He hit just 10 GIR but made up for it by taking just 25 putts. Until he flashes this kind of form consistently, leave him on your bench.

Roland Thatcher withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open this morning, citing a back injury.
He pulled out before his second round. Thatcher opened with a 3-over-par 75 on the North Course at Torrey Pines yesterday. If he's able, he'll give it a go at next week's Northern Trust Open.

Roland Thatcher withdrew on Monday from the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open.
Thatcher finished in a three-way tie for second place at last week's Buick Open and earned Medical Status on the Tour for the rest of the season.

Roland Thatcher posted a final round of 8-under-par 64 and finished in a three-way tie for second place at the Buick Open.
Thatcher went out early in the morning at 3-under-par on his opening nine, then he opened the back nine with three consecutive birdies. He added two birdies at the 14th and 16th hole and after his birdie at the 16th hole, he was briefly tied with Tiger Woods for the lead. Thatcher has been playing with medical extension (Q School/Nationwide Tour category) this year and today's check for $380,800 easily fulfilled the requirement of $144,520 to play in the Major Medical category for the rest of the 2009 season.

Roland Thatcher completed 36 holes of the RBC Canadian Open in 2-under-par 142, missing the cut by one stroke.
Thatcher's problems continue with the putter. He hit just 23 GIR and still needed 56 strokes on the greens. This leaves him with four starts on his medical extension (Q School/Nationwide Tour category) to earn $144,520. He'll now make the short jaunt to Michigan for next week's Buick Open.

Rolland Thatcher carded a final round of 3-under-par 68 and tied for 39th place at the John Deere Classic.
