Soren Kjeldsen posted a 4-under-par 68 in the opening round of the BMW International Open.
Kjeldsen hasn't updated his blog since withdrawing from the U.S. Open, but he's obviously fit enough to play again, finishing two strokes off the clubhouse lead. If he's able to control his ear infection, he could be a sleeper at the British Open.

Soren Kjeldsen is listed in the published field of next week's BMW International Open in Germany.
Normally, we wouldn't post this news, but the Dane is eligible for the British Open and has fantasy value in fantasy formats that incorporate the European Tour. He hasn't updated his web site since withdrawing from the U.S. Open on Wednesday with an ear infection. Stay tuned for the next update.

Soren Kjeldsen withdrew from the U.S. Open today, citing an ear infection.
Based on information we relayed last night, this is not surprising. On his web site, Kjeldsen wrote, "At the moment I am devastated to withdraw but the way I feel right now there is no way I could complete a round of golf. I am really looking forward to get this fixed and return to playing golf." Steven Conway or Murrieta, California will replace the Dane and play alongside Soren Hansen and Peter Hanson in the late-early draw.

Soren Kjeldsen wrote on his web site that he's taking antibiotics to relieve water in both inner ears, but it has left him weak.
"I saw the Doctor at the US Open and he send [sic] me to an ear specialist," Kjeldsen wrote. "After having had a good cleaning of my ears, which he hoped would do it, he realised that I had water in both inner ears." The golfer chose medicine over a surgical procedure for relief. "The antibiotics seemed the preferable treatment but the doctor was in doubt whether one of the ingridients [sic] in the medicin [sic] consisted of an illigal [sic] doping item. Fortunately the antibiotics was ok and I have now started a cure that hopefully will help within 1-2 weeks." But right now, it's affecting his game. "I can only hit my driver 210 meters and after an hour on the practice green or driving range I'm totally wasted - not like me at all."
