Corey Patterson delivered a two-run homer in the Orioles' 8-7 win over the Rays on Sunday.

Patterson also added a sacrifice fly for a third RBI in the contest. A sore neck and shoulder had been limiting Patterson earlier in the week, but he seems just fine now. With no youngsters pushing him for playing time, Patterson remains a cheap source of speed and moderate power for the final month of the season.

Corey Patterson is back in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.

He's playing center field and batting sixth against Matt Garza. Patterson missed Thursday's game due to a sore neck and shoulder.

Adam Jones (shoulder) is out of the starting lineup again Friday.

Not a surprise, really, as Jones received a cortisone shot in his ailing left shoulder Thursday. Orioles manager Buck Showalter called a timetable for his return "open-ended," so it would be wise to make backup plans this week. Corey Patterson is starting in center field Friday.

Corey Patterson was held out of the Orioles' lineup Thursday due to a sore neck and shoulder.

Patterson got a bit banged up while making catches against the wall last week in Anaheim and then against the White Sox. "We'll take it day-to-day and hope for improvements," manager Buck Showalter said.

Adam Jones (shoulder) is out of the starting again Friday.

Jones tried to give it a go, but he still feels pain in his shoulder while trying to run. Corey Patterson will start in center field in his place.

Corey Patterson was 2-for-4 with a home run in the Orioles' 6-5 win over the Royals Thursday.

Patterson's longball in the 8th inning tied the game at 5-5, and the O's went on to win in extra innings. He also added a stolen base. The outfielder's playing time has shrunk a bit since Luke Scott returned from the disabled list, but he's still getting a good number of at-bats and is a viable fantasy option due to his stolen base skills (he has 18 on the year and has been caught just three times).
