Zack Greinke was named the AL's Cy Young Award winner on Tuesday after receiving 25 of 28 first-place votes.
No arguments here, as Greinke was the most dominant pitcher in the American League all year long. Greinke led the league with a 2.16 ERA and 1.07 WHIP, while placing second with 242 strikeouts and six complete games. Even though he managed "just" 16 wins, tying Brandon Webb (2006) for the least wins by a Cy Young award winner, he had six no-decisions in which he allowed two runs or less, a clear indictment of Kansas City's pathetic offense, defense and bullpen. The 26-year-old right-hander logged 26 quality starts in 2009 -- only second-place finisher Felix Hernandez had more (29). Justin Verlander, CC Sabathia and Roy Halladay rounded out the ballot.

Zack Greinke allowed four earned runs over six innings Saturday afternoon in a loss to the Twins.
Greinke surrendered all four runs in the sixth inning, the first time he's had such a blunder all year. It shouldn't hurt his claim on the AL Cy Young Award too much, as he still boasts a 2.16 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. He struck out five batters against two walks Saturday, boosting his incredible K/BB to 242/51. It's been a treat watching him work this season.

Zack Greinke surrendered just one run in seven innings versus the Twins to pick up his 16th win of the season.
Greinke struck out eight and walked two in the contest while scattering seven hits. He's now 16-8 with a 2.06 ERA and 1.07 WHIP and should be a lock for the Cy Young award. If he can toss seven or more scoreless innings in his final start of the season, also against the Twins, Greinke will finish with an ERA under 2.00. The last pitcher to accomplish that feat was Roger Clemens with the Astros in 2005.

Zack Greinke was ejected from the dugout Thursday for arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Greg Gibson.
Greinke was trying to stick up for Royals starter Anthony Lerew, but obviously went a little too far with his criticisms of the strike zone. Royals manager Trey Hillman was also ejected, just one inning later.

Zack Greinke earned his 15th win with six innings of shutout ball against the Red Sox on Tuesday night.
Greinke boosted his Cy Young credentials by allowing just two hits while striking out five and walking three. Manager Trey Hillman pulled him after a very efficient 91 pitches, but he was probably just playing it safe after Greinke was struck in the elbow by a comebacker in his last start. Fortunately, five runs were enough to get him the victory. The Cy Young-hopeful leads the league in both ERA (2.08) and WHIP (1.06). He'll took to play spoiler in a quest for his 16th win against the Twins in his next outing.
 Zack Greinke-S - Royals Sep. 20 - 12:41 pm et

Zack Greinke (elbow) threw a side session Sunday and declared himself ready to start Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Greinke departed his last start in the sixth inning shortly after taking a comebacker off his throwing elbow. He looked great during a game of catch Saturday and is an obvious must-start, even against a tough Boston lineup. With a league-leading 2.14 ERA, he's a favorite for the AL Cy Young Award.
