According to Pete Caldera of the Bergen Record, the Yankees' initial offer to Andy Pettitte "will be in excess of $10 million."
Let's hope Caldera's source is factoring incentives into that figure. Pettitte, 37, had a solid 2009 season, finishing with a 4.16 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 14-8 record, but there's no point in paying him over market value. Let's hope, for the Yankees' sake, that GM Brian Cashman and Co. are smarter than that. Source: Pete Caldera on Twitter
