Jack Wilson has used yoga this offseason to get himself in shape.
The program came recommended by Mariners trainer Rick Griffin, who told the Everett Herald that he might have a yoga instructor on hand at spring training for the rest of the M's. "It’s something we felt would be good for him," Griffin said. "As you get older you lose some of your flexibility, and he’s not the most flexible guy in the world." Wilson missed a good deal of time last season with a hand and heel injury and is hoping to stay healthier in 2010.

Mariners signed shortstop Jack Wilson to a two-year, $10 million contract.
The deal was reached in lieu of the Mariners excercising Wilson's $8.4 million option for 2010. The 31-year-old hit just .224/.263/.299 with one homer and eight RBI in 100 at-bats with Seattle this season but was one of the top defenders in the league at shortstop. The M's will hope the former Pirate finds a way back toward his .268/.310/.374 career batting line.

Larry LaRue of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that the Mariners have extended contract offers to Jack Wilson and Russell Branyan.
According to the report, neither have accepted and negotiations are ongoing. LaRue doesn't mention any dollar amounts, but notes that Wilson's was offered a multi-year contract. The Mariners must decide by Sunday whether to exercise the slick-fielding shortstop's $8.4 million option for 2010, or buy him out for $600,000. The two sides are believed to be negotiating a multi-year contract that would pay him less annually.
