Rafael Furcal went 4-for-5 with a homer and two doubles as the Dodgers defeated the Nationals 7-6 on Thursday night.
Furcal's solo homer in the eighth inning snapped a 6-6 tie and gave Los Angeles a permanent lead. This was the second four-hit game in three days for the Dodgers' leadoff man, who is hitting .471 during his current eight-game hitting streak. He hasn't been terribly effective overall this season, but the Dodgers would love it if he could carry this hot streak into the postseason.

Rafael Furcal was 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday night.
A pair of two-run singles accounted four the four RBI, matching a season-high. Furcal has hits in 14 of his last 15 games, but even with the recent stretch, he is batting a still disappointing .262/.329/.366 with eight home runs, 44 RBI and 89 runs scored in 576 at-bats.

Rafael Furcal was 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Reds on Tuesday night.
While Furcal has cooled off a bit recently, he is still batting a healthy .328 this month. He is currently right up there among the league leaders with 15 runs scored in July. You may still have a chance to buy low, but that window is closing.

Rafael Furcal is 11-for-25 to start July, bringing his batting average up to .254.
"I'm concentrating more on making contact and on my mechanics," Furcal said. "I'm having better at-bats. I'm making better contact. I'm hitting better pitches." Furcal was put back in his customary leadoff spot since the return of Manny Ramirez. In turn, his batting average is at it's highest point since May 6. He's a good bet for a rebound in the second half.

Rafael Furcal went 1-for-3 with a walk as the Dodgers' No. 7 hitter on Sunday.
The Dodgers had stuck with Furcal in the first and second spots in the lineup through nine weeks of poor play, but manager Joe Torre could take it no more. Furcal's already dwindling value will take another hit if he continues to bat seventh.

Rafael Furcal sat out Monday's game as a precautionary measure, according to manager Joe Torre.
With his back surgery last year and a recent buttocks injury, the team decided to sit Furcal after a long overnight flight from Chicago, rather than risk injury. He said he felt fine and will likely play Tuesday. He was replaced in the lineup by Juan Castro.
