The Mets have lowered the height of Citi Field's direct center-field wall from 16 feet to eight feet.
The stadium's spacious dimensions, however, have not been altered. The Mets hit just 95 home runs last season and are hoping to improve their collective power numbers in 2010. The small adjustment in center might not make a huge impact, but it certainly won't hurt.

David Wright, who hit just 10 homers in 2009, is fully confident that he will be able to turn things around next season.
Wright averaged 29 homers, 112 RBI and 106 runs scored during his first four years in the league. Last year he struggled, driving in just 72 runs while scoring only 88 of his own. "I'm not using Citi Field as an excuse. I'm not using the lineup as an excuse," he said Thursday. "It's up to me to go out there and do what I'm capable of and I think there were times last year that I did not do that. ... You just have to adapt to the ballpark."

According to Adam Rubin of the Daily News, the Mets are expected to name former Diamondbacks coach Chip Hale as their third base coach.
Hale spent the past three seasons as Arizona's third base coach. The hiring was expected to round out Jerry Manuel's staff for 2010, but according to the report the Mets may be interested in former Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin as a bench coach. Melvin was interviewed by the Astros and is also considered a managerial candidate with the Nationals.

David Wright will have a scheduled day off on Sunday.
Wright is batting just .221 with 30 strikeouts in 22 games since returning from the disabled list -- this includes four in Friday night's win over the Marlins. Wright already has a career-high 132 strikeouts in 512 at-bats. He probably wants to forget this season ever happened.

 David Wright-3B - Mets Sep. 13 - 11:14 pm et

David Wright struck out three times in the nightcap to finish Sunday's doubleheader 1-for-8.
His performance was lousy, but it's still encouraging that the Mets let him play both games. While the word originally was that he'd be a part-time player after returning from his concussion, he's now started 10 games in 10 days.
