Kevin Jepsen returned to action on Saturday and took the loss to the A's after giving up four runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Jepsen has been battling a tired shoulder and hadn't pitched in six days. He may find himself back on the shelf after this one.

Kevin Jepsen is fighting through a dead arm phase and might not be available for the next few days.
Jepsen has a 1.67 ERA since July 1, but his innings count has begun to climb over career levels. "My shoulder is tired," he said Wednesday. "That last day in Texas, my stuff was fine, my velocity was fine, I could just tell that I was really tired. And before I could say anything to anybody Scioscia said, 'We're going to give you a couple of days.' I could definitely use it."

Kevin Jepsen is in line to vulture several saves from Brian Fuentes the remainder of the year.
Manager Mike Scioscia confirmed the news. "If there are some matches that could be advantageous [to use Jepsen], we will try to take advantage of [them]," said Scioscia. The right-hander has a 1.36 ERA in 33 innings since July 1. Fuentes has 41 saves on the year, but has been far too inconsistent for the Angels' liking.

Angels recalled RHP Kevin Jepsen from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Jepsen allowed 10 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings for the Angels in April before getting shipped to the minors to work through his problems. He posted a 9.00 ERA at Salt Lake in 14 appearances, so it's not exactly clear that he has done so. "His numbers weren't great in Triple-A, but the reports were encouraging," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He's taken some big steps forward as far as some of the things he was working on."

Angels activated Kevin Jepsen from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Jepsen is healthy, but he still has some mechanical issues to work out after posting a 19.29 ERA and 3.43 WHIP for the Angels during the month of April. He could be recalled in a few weeks.
