Luke Scott told the Baltimore Sun that he would prefer to see some time in the field this season.
"Absolutely, I want to be able to play defense," said Scott. "If it were up to me, I'd DH two or three times a week and play in the field wherever they needed me. That would be optimal. I'd be off my feet some and stay fresher longer. I'd play left field and first base and DH. That'd be great." Scott, 31, avoided arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $4.05 million contract. With Nolan Reimold and Felix Pie getting most of the playing time in left field and Garrett Atkins expected to play first base, Scott should be the team's primary designated hitter this season.

The Orioles and DH Luke Scott avoided arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $4.05 million contract.
He earns a hefty raise over the $2.4 million he made last season thanks to career-highs with 25 homers and 77 RBI. It's worth noting that he hit eight of those homers in May, but it just shows what the 31-year-old is capable of when he gets hot. He's been tried in left field and even first base in the past, but should slot in as the team's regular designated hitter this season.

Luke Scott finished 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in the Orioles' season finale on Sunday against the Blue Jays.
Quite a way to go out. Scott strained a muscle in his foot in the middle of last week and hadn't played in the month of October. He probably should have left it that way, as his batting average dropped from .261 to .258.

Luke Scott was scratched from Thursday's lineup with pain related to a strained muscle in his left foot.
Scott was included in manager Dave Trembley's original lineup card, so that's a good sign. He'll try to make a full return on Friday.

Luke Scott left Wednesday's game with a strained muscle in his left foot.
He was replaced by Ty Wiggington. The Orioles have had a rash of injuries to their outfield, so they have to be hoping that Scott can gut it out until the end of the season. We'll update you on his status when more information becomes available.

 Luke Scott-DH - Orioles Sep. 1 - 10:58 pm et

Luke Scott hit a three-run homer in a loss to the Yankees on Tuesday night.
It was his first home run since August 16. Scott has been largely irrelevant in fantasy leagues after blasting eight homers in May. Starting for the seventh time at first base on Tuesday, the Orioles are giving him a shot to carve out a niche for himself leading into 2010, but he will need to show more consistent power in order to claim a roster spot.
