Fred Lewis is 3-for-24 in June after going hitless in Thursday's loss.
Lewis excelled as a No. 3 hitter for the Giants at the beginning of the season, but the team opted to move him from that spot because others were struggling and he hasn't been as successful elsewhere. This was his 11th game batting fifth, and while he's hit .294 there, he's driven in just one run batting primarily behind Bengie Molina. Maybe it's time to try hitting him third again.

Fred Lewis went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer Saturday as the Giants topped the Mariners in Seattle.
The Giants couldn't manage a run in the first seven innings, but got a nice rally going in the eighth inning and wound up with five runs in the frame. Lewis played a part in that, driving a shot over the right field wall with two outs on the board and Juan Uribe on base. Lewis is batting .278 this season with two dingers and six RBI in 133 at-bats.

Fred Lewis has missed the past two games with a sore left toe.
"It is, basically, a turf toe," manager Bruce Bochy said. Lewis is expected to return to the lineup Thursday, but turf toes have been known to linger.

The Giants have taken Fred Lewis out of the leadoff spot and moved him down to sixth in the lineup.
Lewis said earlier in the week he was not comfortable in the leadoff role, where he was 4-for-31 with 15 strikeouts. Randy Winn was in the top spot in the lineup Friday.

Fred Lewis doubled, tripled and knocked in two runs Sunday against the A's.
Lewis is still batting third, with Pedro Sandoval occupying the fifth spot behind Bengie Molina. If he can stay there, he might be an option in deeper mixed leagues this season.
