Ryan Sweeney (knees) was out of Wednesday's lineup and he could be shut down for the year.
Sweeney has had trouble with both of his knees this season and is scheduled to to receive platelet-rich plasma injections for his ailing patella tendons after the season. He'll avoid surgery, but will have to sit immobilized for three weeks once he has the plasma injections. Travis Buck filled in on Wednesday.

Ryan Sweeney is scheduled to to receive platelet-rich plasma injections for his ailing patella tendons after the season.
Sweeney has had trouble with both of his knees this season, especially here towards the end. He'll avoid surgery, but will have to sit immobilized for three weeks once he has the plasma injections. That said, he should be back to full health by the start of spring training next season.

Ryan Sweeney was 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Rangers on Wednesday night.
Sweeney sparked a five-run rally for the Athletics in the fourth, but the Rangers answered with four runs in the fifth and never looked back. It was the third multi-hit game in the last four for Sweeney. Though he doesn't have any home runs this month, he is batting .362 with 15 RBI, eight doubles and 14 runs scored in 18 games.

Ryan Sweeney went 3-for-5 with three doubles and four RBI in Oakland's lopsided win over the Rangers on Monday night.
Sweeney went hitless in his first two at-bats but finished the game with three straight doubles, driving in four runs in the process. He got the nod in the No. 3 spot in the order tonight, wheres he's hitting .357 this year.

Ryan Sweeney is out of the lineup Saturday due to knee soreness.
Sweeney had knee trouble back in June that necessitated a disabled list trip. He is expected to play Sunday. On the season, Sweeney has a .278/.330/.389 line in full-time duty. The A's are looking to upgrade their offense this offseason, and center field is a logical place to start. Rajai Davis is filling in.

Ryan Sweeney was removed from Saturday's game against the Rays in the third inning.
The A's said only that it wasn't due to an injury. Rajai Davis replaced him and went on to hit a big homer in the 7-2 victory.
