According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the White Sox are close to a one-year deal with infielder Omar Vizquel.
Vizquel, 42, would serve as a backup all around the Chicago infield, spelling Mark Teahen at third, Alexei Ramirez at short or Gordon Beckham at second base. He hit just .266//316/.345 in 177 at-bats during the 2009 season but remains one of the finest defenders in all of baseball.

 Omar Vizquel-SS - Rangers Nov. 12 - 1:36 pm et

FOXSports.com cites major league sources who say that Omar Vizquel will not return to the Rangers next season.
This contradicts an MLB.com report from last week in which general manager Jon Daniels said the Rangers were close to an agreement with the 42-year-old shortstop. According to FOXSports.com, Vizquel would prefer to sign with a "higher-profile team." Stay tuned.

 Omar Vizquel-SS - Rangers Nov. 5 - 5:40 pm et

The Rangers are working towards an agreement with free agent Omar Vizquel.
"We're probably farther along with him than anybody," GM Jon Daniels said. Vizquel hit .266//316/.345 in 177 at-bats while playing behind Elvis Andrus last season.

 Omar Vizquel-SS - Rangers Sep. 27 - 2:19 pm et

42-year-old Omar Vizquel said Sunday that he plans to play another season in 2010.
Vizquel has hit .269/.322/.347 in 167 at-bats as a backup for Texas this season. The Rangers will have confidence in Elvis Andrus entering next year, so they may prefer an infield backup with more pop. Vizquel, though, shouldn't have much trouble finding another reserve job.
 Michael Young-3B - Rangers Sep. 16 - 5:57 pm et

Michael Young (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday.
He's hoping to be ready to return to action on Friday following Thursday's day off. Omar Vizquel got the start at third.

 Chris Davis-1B - Rangers Sep. 3 - 4:40 pm et

Chris Davis and Omar Vizquel will draw the bulk of starts at third base for the Rangers, reported Ken Rosenthal.
The FOXSports.com reporter also mentions Esteban German as a candidate to see time. The Rangers are also active on the trade front as they contend for a wild card spot. Possibilities include Nomar Garciaparra and Jamey Carroll. The guess here is that the Rangers will try to scrape by.
