Kosuke Fukudome, mired in a deep slump, will work with hitting coach Kyosuke Sasaki in mid-July when the Cubs are in Philadelphia.
Until then, the Cubs hope Fukudome rights the ship on his own. Sasaki was Fukudome's coach with the Chunichi Dragons. Fukudome is batting .154 with 20 strikeouts in 18 June games. "I don't know what to do," manager Lou Piniella said. "I can write his name in the lineup, give him an opportunity to play. I can sit him. That's an option, too." Piniella said he was "all for" Sasaki's visit: "We can bring in the whole Japanese hitting academy if it'll help him hit. It doesn't matter to me." Source: MLB.com
