Yorman Bazardo was touched up for four runs -- three earned -- over 4 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Mets.
Bazardo walked three Mets batters and didn't manage a single strikeout. He will finish the 2009 season with a 1-3 record, 7.88 ERA and 1.84 WHIP over nine appearances (eight starts). The Astros clearly need to beef up their starting rotation this offseason.

Yorman Bazardo allowed just two runs over 5 2/3 innings while earning his first win of the 2009 season on Monday night.
Bazardo once again displayed spotty control, issuing four walks, but he limited the Phillies to two hits while pitching into the sixth inning for the first time in five starts this season. He still holds an ugly 8.23 ERA but his success in the minors this season will keep the Astros holding out hope.

Yorman Bazardo was hammered for eight earned runs over two innings Friday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
Bazardo was decent in his Astros starting debut last week, but things went awry Friday in Arizona. He allowed eight hits, walked three and didn't strike out a single batter. It may be time for Houston to try something different.

Yorman Bazardo is scheduled to make his second start of the season Friday against the Diamondbacks.
The matchup is intriguing, but Bazardo allowed two earned runs, six hits, and managed just one strikeout in 4 2/3 innings during his last start. He should only be used in deep NL-only leagues.

Astros placed LHP Mike Hampton on the 15-day disabled list.
Surprise! Hampton left Thursday's game with a left shoulder strain. The team announced he would miss his next scheduled start Sunday and now has him hitting the disabled list. Anything goes with Hampton, so he could return the day he's eligible or see his career end. Yorman Bazardo gets the start Wednesday in his place.

Yorman Bazardo is scheduled to make his first start for the Astros on Wednesday against the Marlins.
Bazardo is filling in for Mike Hampton, who suffered yet another injury last week. The 25-year-old has thrown 4 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings of relief for the 'Stros and posted some impressive numbers in the Triple-A Round Rock rotation. NL-only leaguers could do worse.
