41-year-old Matt Stairs has lost 31 pounds this winter and still hopes find an invitation to Spring Training, reports Jerry Crasnick of MLB.com.
Stairs has gone from 230 pounds to 199 -- the lightest he's been in about 15 years -- thanks to a Nutrisystem program. "I'm still open for invitations," Stairs said. "I'm ready to go. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, I understand that as well." Stairs, who has 259 lifetime homers, batted just .194 in 103 at-bats with the Phillies last season. Source: ESPN Insider
