HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5'11' / 196

AGE:41

CONTRACT INFO: 2009: Free Agent
 Brian Shouse-R- Red SoxJan. 13 - 8:40 pm et
Red Sox signed LHP Brian Shouse to a minor league contract.
Given it was a minor league deal, the Rays will not receive compensation for the Type-B free agent. The 41-year-old had a 4.50 ERA in 28 innings in 2009 for Tampa. He'll add nice organizational depth for Boston and should get a couple innings in the bullpen over the course of the year.

 Brian Shouse-R - Red Sox Dec. 6 - 11:46 pm et

Free agent left-hander Brian Shouse is likely to reject the Rays' offer of arbitration, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
Shouse has until Monday at midnight to officially make up his mind. The 41-year-old threw just 28 innings in 2009 and posted a 4.50 ERA.

The Rays offered arbitration to catcher Gregg Zaun and LHP Brian Shouse.
Both are Type B free agents. Zaun, 38, hit .260/.345/.416 in 262 at-bats this season while Shouse, 41, posted a 4.50 ERA and 17/7 K/BB ratio in 28 innings of relief. Zaun said he plans to sign with a team this week. The Rays are still deciding whether to offer arbitration to RHP Russ Springer.

Rays declined LHP Brian Shouse's $2 million option for 2010.
Last winter Tampa Bay signed Shouse to a one-year, $1.55 million deal with a second-year team option, but the 40-year-old logged just 28 innings with a 4.50 ERA.

Rays activated LHP Brian Shouse from the 15-day disabled list.
Shouse had been sidelined since May due to a left elbow strain. He returns to a 3.77 ERA and 1.40 WHIP and should be of use this week against the lefty-heavy Red Sox and Yankees.

Rays reliever Brian Shouse (elbow) is slated to rejoin the team Monday.
Shouse is coming off back-to-back appearances in his rehab assignment, so he's ready to go. The addition, likely at the expense of Dale Thayer, will leave the Rays with three lefties in the bullpen -- just in time for the Red Sox and Yankees series.
