Rangers signed LHP Darren Oliver to a one-year contract.
Terms were not disclosed, however he is expected to earn $3.5 million in 2010, with a vesting option for 2011. Oliver, 39, resurrected his career in Anaheim, posting 3.10 ERA in three seasons, including a 2.71 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 73 innings in '09. Oliver previously pitched with the Rangers from 1993-1998 and again from 2000-2001.

Darren Oliver is expected to take his physical for the Rangers on Tuesday.
If Oliver passes -- which he should -- his one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Rangers will be made official. The 39-year-old left-handed reliever can also trigger a vesting option for 2011 if he performs well enough in the upcoming season. He had a 2.71 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 73 frames in '09.

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, Darren Oliver's one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Rangers includes a vesting option for 2011 that could increase the overall payout to $6.25 million.
The two sides are still banging out the final details of the contract, so it's not known how the option would kick in. The 39-year-old southpaw earned $3.65 million in 2009, posting a 2.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 65/22 K/BB in 73 innings.

According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, Darren Oliver's contract with the Rangers will be worth at least $3.65 million over one year.
Oliver made $3.65 million in 2009 while posting a 2.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 65/22 K/BB in 73 innings. He was asking for a raise this offseason and drew enough interest that he likely obtained it.

ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reports that free agent reliever Darren Oliver is close to a deal with the Rangers.
It's not yet clear what the contract will be worth or how many years it will cover, but we do know the Rangers have been in touch with Oliver's representatives since the Winter Meetings. The 39-year-old left-hander managed a 2.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 65/22 K/BB in 73 innings this past year. He was a member of the Rangers' bullpen from 1993-1998 and again from 2000-2001.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers met with representatives for free agent left-hander Darren Oliver for a second time before leaving Indianapolis.
Oliver is also drawing garnering interest from the Angels and Red Sox. The 39-year-old left-hander managed a 2.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 65/22 K/BB ratio in 73 innings this past year. Should the Rangers land him they are expected to try C.J. Wilson in the rotation.
