Jim Edmonds told KSLG 1380 in St. Louis on Friday that the Brewers have told him he will "get a chance to play every day" against right-handers.
Edmonds initially expressed interest in returning to baseball with the Cardinals, but they didn't have enough at-bats available to him. The 39-year-old batted .250/.362/.521 with 19 home runs and 54 RBI in 292 at-bats against righties back in 2008, so he might have a decent amount of impact if used correctly. Still, he'll carry little fantasy value in most formats.

Brewers signed OF Jim Edmonds to a minor league contract.
Edmonds, who turns 40 in June, must be added to the major league roster by March 25 or he will be granted his release. He'll make $850,000 if he makes the roster, with a chance to make between $2-2.5 million with performance incentives. Edmonds hasn't appeared in the majors since 2008, but still proved pretty valuable, slugging 19 homers with a 937 OPS in 250 at-bats with the Cubs. One of the more underrated players in recent memory, Edmonds is just 18 home runs away from 400. It's a very nice low-risk acquisition.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Brewers are on the verge of signing free agent outfielder Jim Edmonds to a minor league contract.
It was hard to tell if Edmonds was half-kidding when he mentioned the prospect of a comeback earlier this month, but teams quickly jumped at the chance. Edmonds turns 40 in June, and didn't play in the majors last season, however he is just two years removed from putting up a 937 OPS and 19 homers with the Cubs in 2008. It's worth taking a flier on him if he can still punish right-handed pitching.

According to the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, Jim Edmonds is talking seriously with two teams and the Cardinals are not one of them.
Edmonds told a St. Louis area radio station last week that the Yankees had some interest in signing him, but it's not clear if they are still in the running. The 39-year-old outfielder did not play in the majors last season but he posted a .937 OPS and smacked 19 home runs over 250 at-bats with the Cubs in 2008. Sources told the Globe-Democrat that "negotiations could be completed within the next two to three days."

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that Jim Edmonds' agent Paul Cohen says it's "better than 50-50" that his client signs somewhere by the end of next week.
Initially it wasn't clear whether Edmonds was serious when he challenged his former manager Tony LaRussa to let him come back to the Cardinals. Even if the Cardinals don't turn out to be a fit, there are apparently enough teams interested to make a comeback a real possibility. Edmonds, who turns 40 in June, didn't play in the majors last season, however he slugged 19 homers while posting an OPS of 937 OPS in 250 at-bats with the Cubs in 2008. His days as an everyday player are likely behind him, but he could certainly contribute as the left-handed part of a platoon.

According to KSLG 1380 in St. Louis, free agent outfielder Jim Edmonds has been contacted by several teams about a possible contract.
Edmonds challenged Cardinals manager Tony La Russa to give him a roster spot for 2010 during a charity event in St. Louis this week. It was mostly laughed off, but it appears he has caught the attention of a few other teams. Edmonds, who turns 40 this June, hasn't played in the majors since 2008, but he did smack 19 home runs in just 250 at-bats for the Cubs that season. He may be useful in a platoon where he faces only right-handed pitchers.
