According to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian, Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston "spent time lobbying" for the club to bring back Carlos Delgado on Thursday.
The Mets inked Fernando Tatis to a contract on Thursday and appear set at first base, leaving few remaining options for the 37-year-old Delgado. "If there's some way to bring Carlos back here, I'd love to see him back here," said Gaston, "because he can do a lot of things as far as helping the young kids about knowing about hitting." He batted .298/.393/.521 with four home runs and 23 RBI last year in the 26 games he was healthy. Source: BlueJays.mlb.com
